Short CV:
Prof. Dr. Christophe Burucoa (born 25.01.1960, France) is Professor of Bacteriology and Hygiene at the University of Poitiers, School of Medicine and Pharmacy, and Hospital Practitioner, Head of the Laboratory of Bacteriology and Hygiene at the University Hospital of Poitiers.

He received his MD (1992) and his Ph.D. (1998) in Microbiology from the University of Poitiers. He graduated in Bacteriology from the Pasteur Institute (1993). He did a postdoc in Jay Solnick’s Lab at University of California Davis (1998-1999). He has published 100 articles and several book chapters (H-index according to Google Scholar: 29).

He has been developing a research theme on Helicobacter pylori since 20 years. He is the president of the French Helicobacter study group and of the Clinical Microbiology section of the French Society for Microbiology (SFM). He is president of the committee for the French Reference Centers (Santé Publique France), expert for the Haut Conseil de Santé Publique and for the fight against antibiotic resistance with the French Health Ministry. He got numerous grants from industry and health ministry for clinical trials on Helicobacter pylori infections. He is among the leading experts on H. pylori resistance to antibiotics. Pr C Burucoa is co-director of the Master Biologie-Santé at the University of Poitiers (450 students).

He his strongly involved in a popular science approach within associations and gives numerous conferences to the general public to share scientific knowledge with citizens.
