Cellular Microbiology researcher

Job opprtunity for a cellular microbiologist in a supportive environement !

We are currently looking for a researcher with an expertise in cellular microbiology:

  • In our study of antibiotic PK/PD and antibiotic resistance, we have expanded our abilities to gather mechanistic data from multiple sources (conventional microbiology, molecular biology…) at high throughput.
  • The need to get new pre-clinical data on the emergence of antibiotic resistance is of high priority. Thus, we are looking for an experienced researcher willing to take on the challenge of developing new approaches for studying emergence of resistance during treatment. These approaches could include, but are not limited to -omics (transcriptomic, metabolomic…) or molecular biology approaches (Tn-seq…).

This position will be funded through the ATIP/Avenir or the Junior Professor programs. Gross salary will range between 3450€ and 4200€ per month, depending on experience.

Recognizing the importance of a supportive environment, our welcome package includes:

  • Funding for the research theme of the applicant. Since successful applicants will be expected to build their own group within our research unit, they will receive a generous welcome package worth 300 K€ to 400 K€ to recruit collaborators and fund equipment.
  • Technical support: experienced staff at core facilities and our own technical plateau.
  • Administrative assistance: formalities, including visas, insurance, and other necessary documents.
  • Personalized mentorship program: connecting you with experienced researchers for guidance.

Community integration: Grand Poitiers will provide assistance in finding accommodation, job for your spouse, school for kids, and other personal / family needs to facilitate your transition.

Why choose our INSERM research unit

  • International recognition of Inserm U1070: several grants from ANR, PHRC, JPIAMR, IMI and CPER-FEDER and established collaborations with several universities in France and abroad as well as leading pharmaceutical companies.
  • Access to clinical data. Our team includes clinicians from the Poitiers university hospital (CHU), whose networks provide access to clinical data, particularly in infectiology and intensive care anesthesia.
  • Cutting-Edge Core Facilities: a bio-imaging platform, a modern BSL2 animal facility, small animal inhalator and a 80 m² BSL2 laboratories with all needed equipment and a dedicated flow cytometer. A molecular biology lab with PCR, qPCR, dPCR and sequencing by Minion technology.
  • Interdisciplinary Programs funded by Poitiers University PIA « Excellence » program to provide funding and opportunities to push the boundaries of knowledge.

Transdisciplinary and translational collaborations between Poitiers University and CHU creating possibilities to attract young trainees and partnerships with clinical medicine doctors via our local INSERM clinical investigation center.

How to apply

Computational modeller researcher

Job opportunity for a computational modeller in a supportive environnement

We are currently looking for a researcher with an expertise in computational modelling:

  • In our study of antibiotic PK/PD and antibiotic resistance, we have expanded our abilities to gather mechanistic data from multiple sources (conventional microbiology, molecular biology…) and in higher volumes.
  • The volume, as well as the heterogeneity of the data sources represents a challenge for current computational modelling methodologies, which are often optimized for small and homogenous datasets.
  • Thus, we are looking for an experienced researcher willing to take on the challenge of developing new computational methodologies, machine learning approaches in particular, able to handle this high volume and complex experimental data generated within our lab.

This position will be funded through the ATIP/Avenir or the Junior Professor programs. Minimum gross salary will range between 3450€ and 4200€ per month, depending on experience.

Recognizing the importance of a supportive environment, our welcome package includes:

  • Funding for the research theme of the applicant. Since successful applicant will be expected to build their own group within our research unit, they will receive a generous welcome package worth 300 K€ to 400 K€ to recruit collaborators and fund equipment.

  • Access to clinical data. Our team includes clinicians from the Poitiers university hospital (CHU), whose networks provide access to clinical data, particularly in infectiology and intensive care anesthesia.

In addition, Poitiers University Hospital is currently setting up a data warehouse. This tool will give us access to a large amount of clinical, biological and pharmacological data, opening up the prospect of studies evaluating the efficacy of anti-infective treatments, therapeutic drug monitoring approaches or the emergence of resistance.
