Short CV :

Prof. Dr. William Couet (born 10.03.1956, France) is Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Poitiers, School of Medicine and Pharmacy, and Hospital Practitioner at the Poitiers University Hospital. He is also funder and director of the Inserm Unit U-1070 “Pharmacology of Antimicrobial Agents” that recently received an ISO-9001 certification for its analytical platform. He received his Pharm.D (1978) from the University of Tours and his Ph.D. (1985) in pharmacokinetics from the University of Paris XI after conducting his doctoral research with Dr T.N. Tozer at the University of California in San-Francisco. Pr W. Couet also received an MBA from Insead in 1991. He has published 156 articles and several book chapters (H-index according to Google Scholar: 33). He was co-director of more than 10 PhD students. He has been member of the Editorial Board of Antimicrobial Agents Chemotherapy since 2008. He has organized the 7^th International Symposium on Microdialysis in Poitiers (23-24 may 2013) and is now mostly interested in pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) modelling of antibiotics. He got numerous grants from industry and participates to 4 IMI projects (7^th and 9^th calls), including COMBACTE-CARE, investigating the PK-PD on aztreonam-avibactam, and a new project (AB-Direct) as coordinator. He is also involved in a COST action on inhaled drugs. He has been involved in a FP7 European project “Old drugs for bad bugs” (AIDA) and contributes now to a JPIAMR project (Co-Action). He is among the leading experts on polymyxin PK and was/is part of the organizing committee for the 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd International Conference on Polymyxins in Italy (2-4 may 2013), San Diego (sept 2015) and Madrid (25-26 april 2018). Pr W Couet has been elected chairman of EPASG (ESCMID PK-PD of Anti-Infectives study group) and serves now as Associate Editor for Clinical Microbiology and Infection.
