The research group “Pharmacology of Antimicrobial Agents” is an Inserm Unit (U-1070) integrated within the Biology-Health structure of the University and the hospital (CHU) of Poitiers that was created for 6 years in January 2012.
Our main objective is to optimize nosocomial infections treatment with special focus on multi-drug resistant (MDR) Gram(-) pulmonary infections.
We are a multidisciplinary team including pharmacokineticists, chemical analysts, cell biologists, microbiologists, mathematical modeling and drug formulation specialists, as well as clinician including infectiologists and critical care practitioners. This enables us to conduct translational research, in particular on colistin, an old but complex and fascinating antibiotic more and more frequently used as a last line therapy defence.
